It was a fantastic start to the year for us as we got to spend it with our entire family this year!Lots of drinks, food, games and music had us enjoying every last minute of the year together.
New Years day started with a massive load of new DIY's for me that I couldn't wait to start on! I have a few big projects I'm working on at the moment and which will soon be posted on the blog!
To start the new year I did a fun little fashion project.
DY Lace Earrings
I found this lovely project on HonestlyWTF. It's simple and easy for everyone so there's no excuse not to try this at home!
What you need:
-Lace (I used a collar I cut off an old shirt)
-Multi-purpose glue (as seen in the picture I used Gel Medium bought in the art and crafts store)
-Ear wires
-A bowl or measuring cup
-Pliers
-Scissors

First off you mix equal parts water and glue in the bowl or measuring cup. Cut the shapes you want for your earrings from the lace. Take your time to make sure both pieces are the same shape and size.
Then, put the shapes into the mixture of glue and water. Using the side of the bowl press out as much of the mixture as you can. Lay the pieces onto a flat surface and let them them dry for several hours.
When the shapes have dried completely, attach them to the ear wires using the pliers.
And there you have them! The loveliest most adorable earrings! I've worn mine nearly everyday since making them and they look good with every outfit! I love that you can make something so simple and easy to add that touch of quirkyness to your outfit! And you can make them in any shape and size to match your mood and outfit! Or you could make them for a dear friend or family member as a special gift!
Happy DIY'ing!
