We recently bought a new settee and decided that a new item meant changing up the house a bit. We have lived here for two years already and some of the furniture desperately needed to go!
While cleaning up the house I found loads of blankets that I had stored away because lets face it, no one needs five blankets to keep them warm! We may be whiney about the weather at times but it's just not that cold!
I also found loads of magazines that I bought once upon a time and never actually read. Being a mild hoarder I could not get myself to throw them away and I tried to find a way to store the magazines without them getting in the way of our everyday life.
While browsing the internet I came across this handy DIY that I just had to have a go at!
Needed for this ladder DIY
-Wood (I went to the local gardencentre and bought the wood that I liked. You can choose any wood as long as it's sturdy enough to hold whatever you want to drape over it!)
-Hammer
-Nails
-Saw
I cut my wood to size in the garden centre as they have a seperate section where you can do this. Super handy as we don't have a garden and doing this in the house would have meant a lot of noise and a lot of mess! Out of the wood I cut two long pieces and four smaller pieces to function as the steps. Again it doesn't matter how tall or wide you make them. It depends on how tall or wide you want your ladder to be!
I sanded the pieces of wood just to get the splinters and rough edges off. Next I simply hammered the steps onto the longer pieces to create a ladder as seen in the picture below.
And that's it! It's just that simple!
My steps are tiny and are perfect for hanging my blankets and magazines over them. If you wanted you could make the steps wider and place plants and ornaments on the ladder! It's such a simple and fun little project that you can twist to make it to your own taste. Small or big, anything works! And the boyfriends/girlfriends will be just as happy about it as they will not have blankets and magazines scattered around in any draw they come across:)
